REAL BVI 2009 week 2

// January 26th, 2009 // No Comments » // REAL Travel, REAL Watersports

Week two of REAL BVI 2009 was another amazing adventure filled with seemingly harmless pirates, rotating happy hours that ended with a crescendo known to all involved as “Happy Hour Triple XL” (That’s X-tra Loud, X-tra Long, and X-tra Legendary!), and so many sessions we lost count (My back hurts!)!!

See for yourself with the REAL BVI WEEK 2 SESSION REPORT!

We ran into a different wind and swell direction than we had ever experienced before in the BVI. The more regular NE trade winds had shifted about 90 degrees clockwise on the compass which put us into a SE pattern. The SE flow provided off shore conditions on some of the typically side shore breaks that we usually kitesurf. This slight change in the weather pattern served up some of the longest waves that I have ever personally experienced in my six consecutive winters of traveling to the BVI’s for both kiting and surfing. It also opened up some new kite spots and exploration downwinders in places that we had yet to explore. We have been working hard in the REAL Media department to compile slideshows from all of the participants from REAL BVI 2009. Check out the links below to see all of the fun!

Checking in from REAL BVI 2009. Week one was amazing, check out REAL BVI 2009 Session Report. The REAL BVI Crew were graciously provided with a brand new fully pimped MOORINGS 474 POWER CAT for our 2009 adventures. With CAPT. SAM BELL at the helm, we took off and scored 7 days of wind and a few days of great swell to back it up! All of the REAL BVI kiters spent the week sessioning themselves into the ground! It was great to see clients being able to get out on the water on all of the new 2009 LIQUID FORCE HAVOCS and a few lucky riders were even able to ride a close to production version of my new pro model twin tip the LIQUID FORCE INFLUENCE.

We were lucky enough to link up with my friend JIMMY BUFFETT again and share some great surf sessions with him and his crew. I last saw JB when he cruised through Hatteras this past fall. I was lucky enough to take a flight over the Outer Banks of NC with Jimmy, a few of his friends, and Lindsey Herring. You can check out more from Jimmy’s trip through the OBX in his MARGARITAVILLE DIARIES. Thanks goes out to JB, Mike Ramos, and friends for some great times in the islands again, and a special thanks goes out to the man himself for the impromptu acoustic performance on the beach! Thanks Jimmy! Mike, congrats on your upcoming wedding, I wish you and your bride all the best!!

Week two is coming up. Tomorrow we will be shoving off of the dock in Road Town, Tortola in search of more wind and waves. From the forecast it looks like we will see some playful size long period ENE swell hitting about mid-way through the week. Check back for a week two update and more photos soon. Also, surf over to REALWATERSPORTS.COM for periodic session updates.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year and welcome to the launch of jasonslezak.com! I traveled from Pennsylvania to Vermont a few days ago with my brother Dustin Tanner and good friend Robert Hawkins to visit some one of my old stomping grounds, shred with Steve Myers and Steven Kelly, and party in Vt for New years. We have had a few fun days at Okemo and Killington and some great late night snowskate sessions. Also got to hit up the new Stash park at Killington . . . SICK!! If you get a chance hit it up and see what you can handle. Flying back to Baltimore, MD today and then driving straight to Hatteras to get ready for the adventure that lies ahead in the British Virgin Islands at REAL BVI 2009! Check back for session updates and photos throughout the remainder of this month.
